UK-headquartered HSBC has increased its lending commitment to Indian startups to $1 billion , reaffirming its long-term confidence in the country’s innovation ecosystem. Alongside this, the bank launched its dedicated Innovation Banking vertical in India — joining select markets such as the US, UK, Israel, China, and Australia that host this division. The initiative aims to provide non-dilutive capital solutions , including working capital loans and venture debt, to early- and growth-stage startups across technology, fintech, and deep-tech sectors. The expansion is being led by David Sabow , Global Head of HSBC Innovation Banking, and Ajay Sharma , Head of Commercial Banking at HSBC India, as part of the bank’s global effort to strengthen startup financing networks and support high-growth companies.
