BYT Capital, a Bengaluru-based venture capital firm focused on frontier science and engineering innovation, has announced the launch of its ₹180 crore (approximately $20 million) Category II Alternative Investment Fund, aimed at backing early-stage deep-tech startups in sectors including space technology, life sciences, robotics, and clean energy. The fund plans to deploy initial cheques of ₹3 crore to ₹6 crore across 18–20 startups, with around 55 % of the corpus reserved for follow-on support to help founders scale their technologies. Founded by experienced investors Amit Chand and Dinesh Kumar, BYT Capital’s new fund reflects strong backing from a group of India-aligned high-net-worth individuals (HNIs) and family offices with a long-term commitment to deep-tech investment. The fund has already garnered significant early commitments and is expected to reach final close by Q3 2026, signalling growing investor confidence in India’s deep-tech ecosystem. The strategy builds on the partners’ prior personal investments in more than 30 early-stage startups and emphasises areas where scientific depth and engineering rigor can create global competitive advantages.
