Bengaluru-based drone startup Airbound has closed an $8.65 million seed funding round led by Lachy Groom (cofounder of Physical Intelligence), with participation from Humba Ventures, Lightspeed Venture Partners, and senior executives from Tesla, Anduril, and Ather Energy. The company plans to deploy ultra-efficient, rocket-inspired “tail-sitter” drones capable of delivering packages for as little as one cent. It will begin with medical logistics pilots in partnership with hospital networks such as Narayana Health.
